Royals’ Soria has Tommy John surgery in Los Angeles

Joakim Soria has underwent Tommy John surgery.

Soria underwent the procedure in Los Angeles yesterday. Dr. Lewis Yocum performed the surgery on Soria.

This is the second Tommy John surgery for Soria. He is expected to miss the 2012 season.

He had his first Tommy John surgery in the minors. He has been with the Royals since the 2007 season, and was the closer the past few seasons.

Jonathan Broxton and Greg Holland are expected to battle for the closer role.
