Corner back Darrelle Revis has received a roster bonus from the New York Jets today.

Darrelle Revis

His roster bonus is for $1 million dollars from a clause in his contract. The Jets could have released him prior to today in order to not pay him the $1 million dollars, but that did not happen.

He will collect this money no matter what team he will be on during the 2013 campaign. However, this million dollar roster bonus does count towards the Jets 2013 salary cap.

He also has a $1 million dollar workout bonus that is expected to be paid in late June. And he will also receive a $1 million dollar reporting bonus in late July when he reports for training camp.

However, it is not clear where he will be reporting to right now, as the Jets want to trade their disgruntled star player. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the favorite to land Revis, according to media reports, but Bucs general manager Mark Dominik is not willing to give up their 13th overall pick in this year’s draft for Revis.

According to CBS Sports’ Jason La Confora, the deal between the two teams is not dead, as the sides have not agreed to a deal. La Confora says there is still the desire to send Revis to the Bucs, but time will tell if he will actually be traded there.

With the owners meetings this upcoming week in Arizona, things can heat up in the Revis sweepstakes. The biggest hold up is that the Jets are trying to weasel the 13th overall pick from the Bucs, which is the stumbling block in the trade.

However, money is not a problem with the Bucs. They have enough contract space to sign Revis to a long-term extension that he is seeking from his new team.

Other teams have shown interest in Revis; however, they have varying interest in Revis Island. But the Bucs have reportedly shown that they want Revis, which has made them the overwhelming favorite.
