Bucks trade for Suns guard Bledsoe

Disgruntled guard Eric Bledsoe appears to be finally on the way out of Phoenix. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Bledsoe will be headed to the Milwaukee Bucks.

The reported deal includes a package involving center Greg Monroe. The package also includes a 2018 first-round draft pick and a second-round draft pick.

Monroe, 27, signed a three-year, $50 million deal with the Bucks in July 2015. He hasn’t started a game with the Bucks since the 2015-16 season when he started 67 games.

He has played in just five games this season, where he has scored 34 points. It would not be surprising if he’s bought out by the Suns and becomes a free agent.

Monroe is presently sidelined with a sore left calf. He’s expected to be out for another week, before returning. John Henson and Thon Maker, who was previously rumored to be in a package for Bledsoe, are expected to increase their time as a result of this deal.

Henson has started the past two games for the Bucks. Yet, he’s only averaging 4 points and 11.5 rebounds per game in over 28 minutes per contest.

The 27-year-old Bledsoe gets his wish as he leaves the Suns. Bledsoe has been fighting with the Suns management to exit dating back to last season.

He was even suspended by the team earlier this season after he reportedly said he did not want to be with the team anymore. GM Ryan McDonough did not believe him and he was suspended indefinitely, before being granted access to the Suns’ facility this week once again.

With the Bucks, he joins a team that’s on the rise. They also have solid point guard depth with Matthew Dellavedova and back up Malcolm Brogdon, who won the Rookie of the Year last year. It would not be surprising if Brogdon’s minutes drop from this deal, or they find playing time for him elsewhere.

It is not expected that Bledsoe, who is averaging 15.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.3 steals per game in three games, will play for the Bucks in Tuesday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers at Quicken Loans Arena.
