Renegades quarterback Landry Jones went 28 of 40 for 305 yards in his first game in the XFL. He also had one touchdown pass and two interceptions. ]

Jones did not play in the first game of the season, as the team did not clear him to play after suffering an injury.

Cameron Artis-Payne had 14 carries for 99 yards and two touchdowns. Donald Parham had five receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown.

Wildcats quarterback Josh Johnson went 18 of 34 for 196 yards. He also threw two touchdown passes.

Elijah Hood had 10 carries for 31 yards. Nelson Spruce had six receptions for 89 yards and two touchdowns.

“We’re making progress,” Wildcats head coach Winston Moss said. “We got better today. The guys have to stay the course. They have to take care of their bodies. They have to do the little things. The little things get you beat. The turnovers, the penalties, the good teams that win games do not beat themselves.”

Renegades outscored the Wildcats 22-15 in the second half. Artis-Payne scored on a 21-yard rushing touchdown. Artis-Payne also converted a one-point rushing attempt.

Jones then hit Parham for a three-yard touchdown reception. Artis-Payne also made a 17-yard rushing touchdown. Austin MacGinnis made a 45-yard field goal.

“They were playing too high…As long as they did that we knew where we could throw the ball…and a lot of time they had five in the box which allowed us to run the ball,” Renegades offensive coordinator Hal Mumme said of his team’s second-half surge on offense.

The game was tied 3-3 at halftime. MacGinnis also made a 41-yard field goal.

Wildcats kicker Nick Novak made a 47-yard field goal.
