In fact, the current champions of the NBA are none other than the Toronto Raptors from Toronto, Canada.

What are the popular types of Basketball bets in Canada?

One of the reasons Canadians love betting on the NBA is because of the different types of bets that one can place on NBA games. With so many options, it means you can strategize your bets in a way to give you the best chance of winning money and minimize the risk of losing much.

Here are some of the most popular types of bets we see Canadians make on NBA games.

Point Spreads – Let’s assume team a has odds of +5.5 and team b has odds of -5.5. If the bettor bets on team A, then team A will have to win by at least 6 points, and if the bettor bets on team B, then team B should either win or lose by 5 points or less for the bet to be considered a winning bet.

Overs/Unders – The bookmaker will set a total number of points on an NBA game and the bettor will have to bet with either over (the points, in reality, will exceed the bookmaker set mark) or under (the points, in reality, will not reach the bookmakers’ set mark) and will win or lose accordingly.

Parlays – These bets often involve multiple games, and at the minimum, at least two games. So, the bettor will essentially wager on multiple sides, and all sides he chose must win their respective matches for the entire bet to be a winning bet. Parlays pay really well because it involves the bettor not only having to call one game right but two or more.

Propositions – Propositions refer to a variety of bets that one can place on basketball which involve the many different player and team stats. For example, you can bet on how many points a player may score, how many rebounds a player will have, etc. You can even bet on which team will score first, and many other such bets.
