Elite Motorsports has been dominate in the first two Pro Stock races. Two races, two wins.
Jeg Coughlin Jr. won the season-opener at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona. His teammate Erica Enders took home another Wally for the Oklahoma-based team.
Enders defeated Bo Butner III in the final round in the category on Sunday at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Chandler, Arizona. She won the Wally on her boss Richard Freeman’s birthday.
Butner III was able to sneak by in his first three wins, as he got lucky with those wins. But the Houston, Texas native did not allow him to sneak by with another win.
Enders went 6.531 at 210.44 mph for the win. Butner III went 6.606 at 209.33 mph in the losing effort.
“I’d have to say [Sunday] was excellent,” Enders said. “Coming in here off of Jeg’s [Coughlin Jr.] dominating performance in Pomona, we knew that we just had to get my car happy because we share data obviously. There’s no reason why mine shouldn’t run the same as Jeg’s. Our objective coming in [to Arizona] was to just get my car as happy as possible.
“We tested in Tucson [Tucson Dragway] on Wednesday, so coming in, we were definitely optimistic and finally got our act together for that one run on Saturday. The guys gave me a tremendous race car [on Sunday]. Very consistent, very fast and we just crushed the competition and it was really fun.”
The reigning World Champion picked up her first win of the season. In addition, this is her 26th Pro Stock win.
She is now tied with Dave Connolly for 10th on the all-time Pro Stock wins list. Connolly has not competed in several seasons as a driver, as he is focusing his attention to being a tuner/crew chief.
He has served as a tuner for KB Racing the last two seasons. He also worked for Gray Motorsports, working with Tanner Gray, before he joined KB Racing.
