Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Bashaud Breeland may be without a job in the NFL soon. He was arrested on Tuesday.
According to the The Post and Courier, he was booked into a South Carolina jail at approximately 1:26 pm on five charges. The York County Sheriff’s Office records say that he has been charged with resisting arrest, the transport of alcohol in motor vehicle with a broken seal, and open container of beer or wine in motor vehicle.
In addition, he has been charged with possession of 28 grams or less of marijuana or 10 grams of hash, and driving without a license.
According to ESPN, Breeland was still in jail on Tuesday night and has not bonded out at the time of this post.
The Chiefs told ESPN that they were aware of the situation. However, they refused to comment on the situation yet as Kansas City wanted to gather more information before commenting.
This arrest comes less than three weeks after he re-signed with the Chiefs. As a result of his arrest — if he is not released by the reigning Super Bowl champions — he could face significant discipline from the NFL in terms of a fine or suspension.
He had signed a one-year, $4.5 million deal with the Chiefs. The 2019 season was his first in Kansas City.
in his playing career, Breeland has also played for the Washington Redskins and the Green Bay Packers.
