Horse Racing’s biggest events normally take place in a May and June. Traditionally, the Kentucky Derby begins on the first Saturday in May.
Then, the Preakness Stakes competes two weeks later in Maryland. The Belmont Stakes, which is the third event, traditionally falls three weeks after the Preakness Stakes.
However, so far, there is nearly a month separating the first two events. The Kentucky Derby, which was originally scheduled for May 2nd, will now take place on Saturday, Sept. 5.
The Preakness Stakes, which was originally for Saturday, May 16th, will now happen on Saturday, Oct. 3.
