According to the NFL Network, the NFL is dealing with several new cases of the coronavirus. And the players recently received their positive results.
The NFL Network report suggests that members of the Dallas Cowboys have the infectious virus. In addition, members of the Houston Texans have also tested positive for the virus.
While it’s not clear who all the players are, as they may want to remain anonymous, Ian Rapoport has identified one player with the virus. And it’s Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott.
Elliott’s agent Rocky Arceneaux conformed the positive test. He also said that Elliott was “feeling good.”
It was recently reported that 21 states, including Texas, were dealing with an outbreak of new cases. In Elliott’s case, it does not appear like he got the virus at the team’s training facility.
The NFL shut down the team offices due to the virus. Only injured players were allowed recently to go to the team facilities outside of coaches.
“Due to federal and local privacy laws, we are unable to provide information regarding the personal health of any of our employees,” Cowboys said in a statement. “We are following all CDC, local and NFL guidelines to keep our facilities safe, including limiting employee access.”
This is going to raise many questions for the NFL, as they began preparing for their upcoming season in Sept. Teams are one month away from traditionally beginning their training camps, which normally begin in July.
Will this happen in person? We don’t know. But right now, the teams have been gathering through Zoom communications with many lockdowns throughout the country.
