“Today, 7/24/2020, the world lost an amazing, hilarious, and truly kind individual, ” Melinda Vaughn said in a statement on the GoFundMe fundraiser. “For those that don’t know, Brad was in a terrible motor vehicle accident on Saturday morning on his way to the airport for a race. He was cut from his truck and airlifted to the closest hospital. Brad sustained severe damage to both legs, including many breaks, a fractured rib, and multiple bruises and scrapes. He was stabilized and prepared for surgery on his legs later that afternoon.

“During surgery, Brad experienced complications and the surgery had to be abandoned until they could get him stabilized. He was sedated and placed on a ventilator to stabilize his blood pressure, which had dropped extremely low during surgery. Later that night, he was rushed into emergency surgery for a possible GI bleed. During this time, doctors believe he threw a blood clot from his legs and suffered a massive stroke. Over the next few days, Brad’s blood pressure stabilized, but he was unresponsive to commands. He then developed a low-grade fever causing scheduled surgery to be postponed once again.”

The post also said that on Wednesday, he suffered a respiratory arrest. Medical personnel then worked on him to get his oxygen levels above 30%. He was then placed on life support, before passing away.
