The NFL has postponed the upcoming Pittsburgh Steelers and the Tennessee Titans game. The game was originally scheduled to be played on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2020.
However, following another Titans player testing positive for the coronavirus, the league was forced into a corner. Now, at least four Titans are dealing with the virus.
At least five staff members are also dealing with the virus. Tennessee informed the league following Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings that they were dealing with the league’s first coronavirus outbreak.
The members of the Titans are reportedly asymptomatic. They are all expected to recover following 14-days of quarantine.
This postponement was made to give the league more time to figure out their plans. This could mean a Monday Night Football double header.
The Atlanta Falcons play the Green Bay Packers at 8:15 pm EST. The league could ask the Titans and Steelers to play their postponed game at at 5 pm EST.
Or, as ESPN’s Dianna Russini has pointed out, the two teams could possibly even play on Tuesday. Then, it’ll be a rush for the Steelers and Titans to get ready for their Week 5 opponents.
Teams have prepared on short notice for years since they went to every team plays one Thursday Night Football game during the week. Many teams do not practice and just do walk through before the Thursday night games, especially the road teams.
It’ll be interesting to see what the league does.
