Potomac Nationals claims finale split series in 7-4 win over Wilmington Blue Rocks

In a Carolina League contest, the Potomac Nationals the Carolina League Single A Division of the Washington Nationals at 35-42 overall and 4-3 record in the second half of play defeated the Wilmington Blue Rocks, Single A Division of the Kansas City Royals at 31-46 overall and 2-5 in second half play by a 7-4 score as Elisal Pimental downed from Double A made his debut as a starter that didn’t go to well.

The Rocks were downed by a 2-0 score as they scored 3 runs in the 3rd inning to take a 3-2 lead as Angel Franco drove in a run with a single and teammate Orlando Calixte collected an rbi with a groundout by Nationals pitcher Trevor Holder. Ricky Hague’s fourth homer in the inning tied the game at 3-3 and the Rocks in the fourth inning came on a sacrifice fly by Ramon Hernandez.

The Nationals came back as Randolph Odubur tripled in a pair of runs and scored on an error by Rocks Orlando Calixte put the P Nats by a 6-4 score. David Frietas singled in another run to make the final score 7-4 in favor of the Potomac Nationals.

Elisal Pimental is the loser at 0-1 while winning pitcher Trevor Holder is 5-2 on the season. The Rocks come home this coming Thursday, June 28 to Sunday, June 30th when they will host the Lynchburg Hillcats a farm team of the Atlanta Braves. Thursday the Rocks will be giving Tubby Raymond Bobblehead Dolls to honor the long time legendary head football coach at the University of Delaware and on Saturday will be the Pirates Night along with Fireworks.
