The Edmonton Oilers has signed the first overall pick to an entry-level contract.

The Oilers has agreed to terms with forward Nail Yakupov. His contract is for three-years.

He will become a restricted free agent after the 2014-2015 season.

He scored 31 goals and had 69 points in 42 games for the Sarnia Sting in the Ontario Hockey League last season.

“We’re very happy to sign Nail to a three-year contract. He’s an extremely talented and passionate young man who we feel will be an integral part of our team for many years to come,” noted Oilers general manager Steve Tambellini.
