Feliz has been shut down for the rest of this season.

Feliz, a Texas Rangers pitcher, is expected to undergo Tommy John surgery. His could be out a year or more, with a potential comeback in late 2013.

The surgery will be performed today by Dr. Keith Meister. He has not pitched since May 18th, and immediately when on the disabled list after the start when he felt soreness in his right elbow.

He made three rehab starts last month, but went 0-2 with a 1.36 ERA. He had more pain in his last start, which he was pulled from on Sunday.

He was 3-1 in eight games with a 3.16 ERA this season. He made seven starts.

He was being used as a starter this season after originally coming up as a closer.
