He was brought in to help take the Texas Rangers back to the World Series for their third straight year. But he may have to defeat the New York Yankees to get them back to the Fall Classic.

Dempster pitched 6 innings and pitched to two batters in the 7th inning on Monday night. He gave up 8 runs to the Yankees at Yankee Stadium.

He gave up a grand slam on a slider to Yankees outfielder Nick Swisher, who had five RBI’s in the game. He has allowed 4 home runs on his slider with the Rangers.

Earlier this season, he gave up just three home runs on his slider with the Chicago Cubs. He is also the active leader with 10 grand slams allowed in his career. Kenny Rogers holds the record with 11 grand slams allowed.
