Pirates remove McDonald from their starting rotation

The Pittsburgh Pirates have removed pitcher James McDonald from their starting rotation.

McDonald has made 12 second half starts since the All-Star break. In those games, he has a 7.08 ERA.

McDonald was scheduled to start on Wednesday against the Milwaukee Brewers. Now, he will be replaced by Kyle McPherson.

This season, he is 12-8 with a 4.05 ERA in 171 innings. He has completed one game this season.
