Pierre agrees to a one-year deal with the Marlins

Many players would not want to play for the Miami Marlins after their recent fire sale.

But the team has reached a contract with free agent outfielder Juan Pierre. He signed a one-year, $1.6 million deal.

He gives the Marlins an inexpensive veteran outfielder that will get the team a strong presence at the top of their lineup. He will also have a chance to get everyday at-bats.

With an every day role, he could get 40 or more steals while providing little power.
