Martin leaves the Bronx for a two-year deal with the Pirates

The New York Yankees are in need of a full-time catcher.

Last year’s starter Russell Martin has decided to leave the Bronx for Pittsburgh. He has signed a two-year, $17 mill deal with the Pirates.

His contract is pending a physical. On Wednesday there was a report that said the Pirates offered Martin a deal as high as $25 million.

Last season, he played in 133 games and had a .211 batting average. He had 21 home runs and 53 RBI’s.
