He joins Mike Ashley with one win this season. Ron Capps is the leader with three wins, while Robert Hight and Gary Scelzi both have two wins each.

Pedregon won the Checker Shucks Kragen Nationals in Phoenix.

This is the first time that Johnson Jr. won the race as the No. 1 qualifier. He had a rough day, but it was all worth the while, as he had to escape a burning car in the first round in order to advance before defeating Jack Beckman and Jeff Arend to get to the final round.

The Quaker State Motor Oil driver had an 11-10 advantage over the SKOAL driver in prior events. Each driver has previously once against the other in the final rounds.

Pedregon had the lead off of the starting line. He continued to have the lead through the 60-foot marker. Johnson Jr. closed the gap as they passed and went down the track.
