Christmas Eve is supposed to be a joyous time. However, for Scott Skiles, this Christmas is not going to be a good time for him.
He has been fired by the Chicago Bulls on Monday. The team has one of the worst records in the Eastern Conference.

“Hardly a day goes by that I don’t demand accountability and stress results,” Skiles told the Chicago Tribune. “Today was my day to be held accountable.”

Skiles told the Tribune he was reportedly not bothered by the Christmas Eve firing.
“The fact that it’s Christmas Eve is neither here nor there,” Skiles told the Tribune. “The timing doesn’t bother me. I’m not destitute.”
At press time, an interim head coach has not been named.
“I don’t have a long-term solution as of today,” Bulls general manager John Paxson said. “I’m disappointed in the way we’re playing, the way we’re competing, the energy or lack thereof that we’re playing with on the floor. I know expectations coming into the year were high and we’re not even close to those. I honestly believe we’re a better team than we’ve played this year.”
Skiles was fired with the team on a two-game losing streak. Their next game is on Wednesday, December 26th on the road against the San Antonio Spurs.
The Bulls were defeated by the Boston Celtics on Friday, December 21st, in a 107-82 loss. Then, they lost the next night at home against the Houston Rockets in a 116-98 loss.
The team is currently 9-16 on the season. So far this season, the Bulls have had two four-game losing streaks.
The team lost their first four games. They were defeated by the New Jersey Nets, Philadelphia 76ers, Milwaukee Bucks, and the Los Angeles Clippers.
Then, after going to 2-6 on the season, the team dropped four straight games again. They were defeated by the Los Angeles Lakers in the first game of the second four-game losing streak.

Then, they were defeated by the Denver Nuggets, the New York Knicks, and the Toronto Raptors.
Skiles was 165-172 as the Bulls head coach after he had replaced Bill Cartright in November 2003. Paxson said that the team will hire a new head coach for next season.
“I wouldn’t say we stopped playing for Scott,” guard Kirk Hinrich said. “Every time I go out there, I’m playing for my teammates, my coaches. We should all be in this together.”
