The Chicago Bulls drafted Derrick Rose as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. He played college basketball with the Memphis Tigers.
Rose spent one season with the Tigers. He averaged 14.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game in 29.2 minutes.
Being the top pick, it is believed that Rose would come in and start right away. However, the front office will ultimately make that decision before the start of the season.

This was the Bulls’ first overall pick since the 1999 NBA Draft. The Bulls drafted Elton Brand with that top pick.
These are the only two times that the Bulls had the top pick in the draft.
Rose joins a team that went 33-49 during the 2007-08 season. The team averaged 97.3 points per game.
He is expected to be a point guard for the team. The team had Chris Duhon and Kirk Hinrich as the point guards last season.
Hinrich was the team’s sixth-leading scorer with 11.5 points per game. He also averaged 3.3 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.3 blocks.

Duhon was the 11th-leading scorer on the team. He averaged 5.8 points off the bench with 1.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 0.7 steals.
Hinrich appeared in 75 of the team’s games, while Duhon appeared in 66.
This was the team’s highest pick since 2006 when the team drafted LaMarcus Aldridge with the second overall pick.
