Chargers blow out Titans 42-17 as Sproles scores 3 TDs

The San Diego Chargers have defeated the Tennessee Titans on Christmas Day. The Chargers won 42-17 over the Titans at LP Field in Nashville, Tennessee.

With the win, the Chargers improved to 12-3. The loss dropped the Titans to 7-8 overall.

This was the NFL’s first Christmas Day game since 2006 when the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Dallas Cowboys 23-7. The New York Jets defeated the Miami Dolphins 13-10.

Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers went 21 of 27 for 264 yards. He had two touchdown passes.

Mike Tolbert had 11 carries for 60 yards. Antonio Gates had three receptions for 74 yards and a touchdown.

Titans quarterback Vince Young went 8 of 21 for 89 yards. He had two interceptions.

Chris Johnson had 21 carries for 142 yards and a touchdown. Nate Washington had four receptions for 39 yards.

The Chargers outscored the Titans 21-7 in the second half. LaDainian Tomlinson scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown.

Darren Sproles scored on a nine-yard rushing touchdown. He also scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown.

Titans’ Jones scored on a 30-yard rushing touchdown.

San Diego also led 21-10 at halftime. Tomlinson scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown.

Rivers hit Gates for a 36-yard touchdown reception. Rivers also hit Sproles for a three-yard touchdown reception.

Titans’ Young scored on a three-yard rushing touchdown. Rob Bironas also made a 46-yard field goal.
