Japan needed an extra-inning, game-winning hit to overcome the Asia-Pacific team. This is the first time that a Little League team from Japan was able to make it to the Championship game since a team from Tokyo, Japan in 2007. Japan was able to beat Asia-Pacific, 3-2, yesterday afternoon at Lamade Stadium.

With the loss, the Asia-Pacific team will be playing in the consolation game this morning. Just last year, another team from Taiwan made it all the way to the championship game. Unfortunately, a team from Taoyuan County, Taiwan lost to Chula Vista, California and the West Region, 6-3.

After a ground out to begin the bottom of the 7th inning, Masaya Ishii hit a single to center field. Ishii then advanced to second base on a pinch ball, before being replaced by a special pinch runner, Ryusuke Ikeda. Teruma Nagata grounds out to the first baseman, allowing Ikeda to advance to third base. Ryo Motegi hits the game-winning single to score Ikeda to end the game, 3-2.

In the bottom of the 6th inning, Koutaro Kamikura singled to left field. After a strike out, Kamikura advanced to second base on an error by the Asia-Pacific catcher. After a single by Norimatsu, Kamikura comes home to tie the game at 2-2.

In the top of the second inning, Asia-Pacific was able to take the lead. Yi-Chung Chen walked to start the inning, before moving to second base on a wild pitch. Shang-Yu Wu hits a double to score Chen to tie the game at one. After the first putout, Wu stayed at second base, but moved to third base on the second putout. Wu made it 2-1 after a Japan wild pitch.

In the bottom on the first inning, Japan was able to get on the score board first. Ryota Norimatsu advanced to first base on a walk, then moved to second base on a wild pitch. Ichiro Ogasawara hit a double to the left field. Norimatsu was able to score on the double.
