Kellen Moore, a junior quarterback with the Boise State Broncos, recently took time to do a Heisman Q&A with The Capital Sports Report before the Heisman trophy ceremony.
TCSR: What does it mean to you to be a candidate for the Heisman Trophy award?

KM: “It’s a special moment. I’m grateful to be around so many great people, who had an impact on college football this year. The current guys, LaMichael (James), Andruw (Luck), and Cam (Newton). Some of these guys have been doing it over the past few years. I have been watching this award for a very long time. I’ve been watching this since I was growing up, as far as the older guys. It’s very special.”

TCSR: What’s it like taking Boise State to new heights after Jared Zabransky left the school?
KM: “I think Boise State has been progressing., We’ve had a lot of great seasons. Coach Pete (Peterson) always talks about leaving your job a better place than when you got it. I think the coaches take their jobs very seriously. We play at a very high level, and we all hope to be the best players we can be.”
TCSR: What’s it like playing for Coach Peterson?
KM: “I think Coach Pete is one of the best coaches in the business. Not only is he a great coach, but he’s a better person. He cares about us as players, but more importantly, he cares about us as people. So much that’s neat about him is that he wants you to develop as a person. We wait to win games, but he wants you to be a good person off the field.”
TCSR: What do you think about the Chris Peterson rumors about Florida now that Urban Meyer is no longer the coach there?
KM: “I think it’s fine. It’s something that we’ve been going through for a few years now. Since he’s been our head coach, his name has popped up around the country. Certainly, that means people think Boise State is a great program. Fortunately for us, coach Pete feels Boise State is the best fit for him at the end of the day. Hopefully, he will be at Boise State for quite a while.”

TCSR: What do you think about the playoff season after ending your perfect season due to your kicker missing a few kicks?
KM: “I would love it! As a player, you want to play everybody on the field and see what happens from there.”
