LaMichael James, a sophomore running back with the Oregon Ducks, recently took time to do a Heisman Q&A with The Capital Sports Report before the Heisman trophy ceremony.

TCSR: What are your thoughts on Chip Kelly attending the New Hampshire vs. Delaware playoff game Friday night? (Kelly was the offensive coordinator from 1999 to 2006 at New Hampshire)

LMJ: “Yeah, that’s just like people saying I can’t go home and support my high school team. I think Chip should be allowed to go back there. He started there and he had a lot to do with that program.”

TCSR: What’s it like playing for Chip Kelly at Oregon?

LMJ: “It’s fun. He’s a player’s coach, and I think he’s the best coach in the country.”

TCSR: Could you talk about the development of first-year quarterback Daron Thomas this season?

LMJ: “He’s a tremendous player. He does good things for us. He makes all the right decisions having never been a starter before. He’s been in our system for a long time. Big up’s to Daron Thomas.”

TCSR: What are your thoughts on the National Championship game against Auburn?

LMJ: “We have to be ready to play. We have to start practicing as soon as we get back. Playing in the National Championship game has a lot of pressure, but I’m sure we’re going to be ready.”

TCSR: Have you played in any other championship games, or this is your first time

LMJ: “Yeah, I have. I have played in a State Championship game in Texas. I’ve played in a lot of big games throughout my college career, but you can’t look at it that way. You have to look at it as just another game.”
