Doug Gabriel will be returning to Central Florida. Gabriel, who played college football at Central Florida, has signed a contract to play for the Orlando Predators in the Arena Football League.
Gabriel is returning to football after not playing in 2010. He last played during the 2009 season in the United Football League. In the UFL, Gabriel played for the California Redwoods.
He had 14 receptions for 174 yards and a touchdown with the Redwoods.
“Signing Doug Gabriel brings local flavor and tremendous NFL experience to the table. His presence adds to the already powerful wide receivers core we have coming to training camp,” said Predators Head Coach, Pat O’Hara.
Gabriel played five seasons in the NFL with the Oakland Raiders and the New England Patriots. In 2006, he split between the Raiders and the Patriots.
He made three appearances with the Raiders. He had five receptions for 84 yards.
Gabriel made 12 appearances, including 5 starts with the Patriots. He had 25 receptions for 344 yards and three touchdowns.
