Jordan White is living a dream with the San Jose Sharks. White was called up by the Sharks to be an emergency back-up.
White, who is from British Columbia in Canada, was in his second year with the UBC Thunderbirds, before receiving the call up. He was the Thunderbirds No. 1 goalie. He was 7-7-4 with a 3.51 GAA and a .876 save percentage with the T-Birds.
White got the news shortly before noon today. He was called into the office of head coach Milan Dragicevic, before the team hit the ice. White thought it was about this weekend’s series with the Reginia Cougars.
Due to NHL rules, he had to sign the paperwork, before 2 pm eastern in order to play. He stepped off the ice to complete the paperwork, before returning to the ice near the end of practice.
“Coach called me into his office and told me the situation. At first, I was just trying to put it into perspective. You’ve heard about these stories on TV or in the papers and I’m looking forward to the experience and taking it for what it is,” said White.
