The Chicago Bears have confirmed that Jay Cutler was indeed injured in their playoff game. Bears head coach Lovie Smith is saying that Cutler’s injury is a sprained MCL.

According to Google, depending on the time of Cutler’s sprained MCL, it could be a several-week injury to a several-month injury. A Grade 1 sprain is 1-3 recovery time.

If it is a grade 2 MCL sprain, he’s going to be sidelined for at least a month. And finally, if it’s the most severe, grade 3 MCL sprain, he could be limited for the next several months.

Cutler left the Bears game against the Green Bay Packers last night. He was replaced by Todd Collins, who struggled before he was replaced by Caleb Haine.

Haine came in right before the end of the third quarter and finished the game.

Cutler has received a lot of criticism for missing most of the second half of the game.

“If you’re going to attack someone, you should be attacking me,” said Smith.

An MCL sprain could be a partial tear, too. He was expected to go through an MRI earlier today. But he shouldn’t need off-season surgery.

Before departing the game, Cutler went 21 of 37 for 302 passing yards in a 27-17 loss to the Packers. Cutler also had two touchdown passes and two interceptions.

The two touchdown passes tied his most for the season, as he also had two touchdown passes in the Bears’ season-opening 30-12 win over the Atlanta Falcons on September 11th.

The 302 yards were the second-most of the season thus far. He had a season-high 312 passing yards in the win against the Falcons.
