Deron Williams is a major factor why Jerry Sloan is resigning in a few hours.

According to Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Sloan is resigning in part because of a strained relationship with Williams. Also, according to Jazz beat writer Brian Smith, Williams and Sloan have had multiple flareups throughout this season.

Last night was the deal breaker. Sloan decided to give up after 23 seasons as Jazz head coach. Wojnarowki also states that the ownership group was more willing to listen to Williams instead of Sloan.

Williams is the Jazz’s franchise player. He’s also slated to become a free agent in 2012. Lead Assistant coach Ty Corbin will take over for Sloan.
