The Minnesota Wild are interested in a player from North of the Border. The Wild are interested in Edmonton Oilers’ Dustin Penner.
Wild GM Chuck Fletcher wants to acquire a top-six forward — and believes that Penner would be a good fit for his team. Minnesota is without Mikko Koivu, who is presently sidelined with an injury.
In order for the Wild to have a chance to acquire Penner, the franchise will have to trade away some cap space to fit his salary under their cap. It is believed that the Oilers would like a first-round draft pick and a prospect in return for Penner.
Through 60 games this season, he has 21 goals and 17 assists for 38 points. He also has a -11 +/- and 45 PIM.
