The BYU Cougars will be without their starting center for the rest of the season. Brandon Davies, according to reports, has been dismissed from the program.
This is a tough blow for the program, as this news comes after they defeated the San Diego State Aztecs. This was one of their biggest wins in program history, as they defeated the No. 3 ranked team.
At this time, the school is only saying that Davies broke the school’s honor code. Their news release said that the sophomore “will not represent the university on the men’s basketball team throughout the remainder of the 2010-11 season.”

We do not know what Davies did. However, their honor code does not allow premarital sex, alcohol usage, illegal drugs usage, and cheating in school.
Carri Jenkins, the school spokeswoman, said that the school will not be releasing details regarding his dismissal. However, she said that these honor codes, which is owned and operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The investigation into Davies began on Monday. While he was dismissed, the investigation is still ongoing.
“Some decisions regarding Brandon’s future on the basketball team and his status as a student are yet to be determined,” Jenkins said.
At this time, according to Jenkins, no other student-athletes are in violation of the Honor Code.

He could potentially be replaced in the starting lineup by James Anderson, who had been serving as his backup. Head Coach Dave Rose could potentially use an entirely different lineup.
Davies was scoring 11.1 points per game, the third-most on the team. He was also averaging 6.2 boards per game.
