Oshiomogho Atogwe has decided to go East.

Atogwe, a former starter with the St. Louis Rams, was released by the Rams last month. Now, he’s going to be playing in the Washington, D.C. area next season and beyond. Atogwe has signed with the Washington Redskins.

Atogwe has signed a five-year, $26 million contract with the Skins tonight. The Denver Broncos, Buffalo Bills, and the Dallas Cowboys were all interested in his services.

Atogwe has 44 turnovers in the past five years, which is third in the league. It is only second in the NFC. Only Ed Reed and Charles Woodson have more.

Atogwe is very familiar with Redskins defensive coordinator Jim Haslett’s system. Haslet and Atogwe were both together in St. Louis for a time, when Haslet was the head coach.

Atogwe will play free safety for the Skins. LaRon Landry will move to strong safety.
