The Detroit Lions were the latest team to cut a veteran player.
The Lions have decided to release linebacker Julian Peterson. Peterson was told two months ago that his release was coming.
The Lions waited until now to release Peterson, because they wanted to make sure he was fully healthy before going back on the market. Peterson was due $16.5 million over the next two seasons, but now will no longer see that money.
Peterson played in 15 games last season, including 14 starts. He had 56 tackles and 1 sack.
