Phil Taylor has played his way into the first round in next month’s NFL draft.
Taylor, who was a nose tackle at Baylor, is expected to go in the first round of the draft. He was once considered to be a second round draft pick.
“I must have gotten five phone calls after his Pro Day, people just raving about him,” said NFL Network’s Mike Mayock.
Taylor is expected to go late in the first round, especially after pick No. 20. Many of the teams picking between 1-20 feature 4-3 defenses. As a nose tackle, Taylor fits better into a 3-4 defense instead of the 4-3 defense.
