Cam Newton’s character has come into question again.

Newton has been criticized after Pro Football Weekly’s Draft Analyst Nolan Nawrocki gave Newton a brutal scouting report. But he has at least one NFL GM in his corner right now.

Carolina Panthers GM Marty Hurney, whose team holds the No. 1 overall pick in this month’s draft, said, “I don’t pay much attention (to that). (Nolan Nawrocki) has never met Cam Newton. So who’s he talked to? He says he’s talking to decision makers. We have the No. 1 pick. He hasn’t talked to me.”

Hurney is also very confident in last year’s Panthers second round pick Jimmy Clausen, but he went especially out of his way to defend Newton against the attack from Nawrocki.

Hurney also added, “Nawrocki did his job, he’s selling books.”
