The Baltimore Ravens have released wide receiver Derrick Mason, according to the Baltimore Sun. This is a surprising move.
Mason is the latest player to be released by the team. That includes Kelly Gregg, Willis McGahee, and Todd Heap so far, besides Mason.
Like those players above, who were released by the Ravens, Mason will try to sign with a team for the 2011 season. Depending on his plans, he could also decide this was the end and retire.
He spent the last six seasons with the Ravens. In 2010, Mason had 16 appearances, including 15 starts.
He had 61 receptions for 802 yards and seven touchdowns.
In his career in Baltimore, he made 96 appearances, including 94 starts.
He had 471 receptions for 5,777 yards and 29 touchdowns.
Mason has played for the Tennessee Titans and the Ravens in his career. He played eight seasons for the Titans, before signing with the Ravens.
