By Anthony Caruso III | Publisher The Arizona Cardinals have acquired quarterback Kevin Kolb. In exchange, the Philadelphia Eagles added cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a 2012 second-round draft pick. The second-round draft selection will be the 51st overall pick. With the trade, the Cardinals are hoping that Kolb can compete for the starting job. He is 3-4 as a starter over two seasons with the Eagles. Kolb last started a game on January 2nd, 2011 in a loss to the Dallas Cowboys. He went 18 of 36 for 162 yards. He had one touchdown pass and three interceptions in a 14-13 loss. Presently, the Cardinals have veteran Derek Anderson as the leader at quarterback on their depth chart. The team also has Max Hall, John Skelton, and Richard Bartel as quarterbacks on the roster. It is believed that Anderson and Kolb will compete for the starting job. Anderson went 2-7 as the Cardinals starter in 2010. Kolb was listed as the Eagles’ backup to Michael Vick before the trade. Now, Mike Kafka will serve as the backup unless the front office makes additional moves before the start of the season. The former second-round draft pick was 2-3 as a starter in 2010. Kolb was 115 of 189 for 1,197 yards on the season. He had seven touchdown passes and seven interceptions. Rodgers-Cromartie started every game for the Cardinals last season. With the Eagles, he will compete for the right cornerback position. Before this trade, the Eagles had Dimitri Patterson as the starter at the position. Now, it is likely that Rodgers-Cromartie takes over the role. Rodgers-Cromartie had 44 tackles last season. He also had three interceptions including two returned for touchdowns. He also had one fumble and 17 pass deflections.
