The New England Patriots has signed offensive lineman Brian Waters, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Waters joins the Patriots after spending the first 11-years of his career with the Kansas City Chiefs. During his tenure with the Chiefs, he was selected to five Pro Bowls.
He was released by the Chiefs in July. The 2009 Walter Payton Man of the Year gives the Patriots offensive line a boost.
Waters was a starter with the Chiefs. At this time, it is not clear if he will start for the Patriots. However, it is definitely possible.
This preseason, the Patriots offensive has been banged up.
Dan Connolly, the team’s starting right guard, injured his ankle in the team’s third preseason game against the Detroit Lions. Backup Rich Ohrnberger is already on injured serve and is expected to miss the entire season.
Fellow backup Marcus Cannon is also out. He is presently on the reserve/non-football list.
