The Philadelphia Soul has signed Anthony Amoo to a one-year contract for the 2012 season. Amoo, who is an offensive lineman and defensive lineman, will be entering his first season in the Arena Football League when the season starts.
But he is no stronger to the Indoor football experience, as he has been playing Indoor football since 2008.
Last season, he split time with the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks and the Reading Express. He played for the San Antonio Warriors during the 2009 and 2010 campaigns.
He also went to training camps with the Abilene Ruff Riders, Austin Gamebreakers, the Kileen Knights, and the USA Eagles. He was selected as the National Minor Football League’s Top 25 Defensive Players Award in 2009.
“The coaching staff believes that Anthony has a lot of potential,” said Soul head coach Doug Plank. “A team can never have too much depth at any one position and Anthony will provide versatility to help our entire line.”
Since he hasn’t played in the Arena Football League before, he may have a tougher road than those, who have previous AFL experience. He could be possibly a camp body until Plank and the Soul front office make their final cuts for the 2012 season.
