Delonté West is banned from the White House.
West hoped to have joined the Dallas Mavericks when they travel to meet the President on Monday on Mark Cuban’s dime. But his 2009 arrest for weapons charges are keeping him away.
“I’m banned from going to the White House, so I’m not going to make it,” Mavericks guard Delonte West said. ”But I’m going home to D.C., I’m just not allowed to go to the White House. That’s what happens when you make bad decisions in your life. You can’t go to the White House.”
West was arrested in Maryland in September 2009 for speeding on a motorcycle, while carrying two loaded handguns and a loaded shotgun in a guitar case. He pleaded guilty to the weapons chargers and received only home detention and community service as his punishment.
West signed with the Mavericks in December 2011 after playing the previous season with the Boston Celtics.
