Philadelphia Soul have signed James “Dusty” Bear for the 2012 season.
Bear was a second-team All-Arena selection last season with the Dallas Vigilantes. He will be entering his third season in the Arena Football League.
While with the Vigilantes last year, he was being coached by current Soul assistant head coach/offensive coordinator Clint Dolezel. Bear played in 16 games last season and 43 tackles.
He was third in the league with 11 sacks and fourth in the league with 12 tackles for a loss.
He also scored a touchdown and recorded two safeties.
“The Soul got stronger today,” said Soul head coach Doug Plank. “We targeted Dusty because he is versatile and one of the top defensive players in the league. He is a playmaker that has the ability to play many different positions. We’re excited to have him on our team this season.”
