Man sentenced for giving Fresno State football players food stamps
A man has been sentenced in a Fresno County food stamp scam.
Michael Martin has been sentenced to three years in prison. His charges include embezzlement by a public officer, identity theft, and possession of heroin.
The scam involved Fresno State football players. The prosecutors said Martin fraudulently applied for benefits for members of the 2010 Fresno State football team.
Martin’s wife was also charged after she received benefits with a name of an individual in prison and redeeemed the food stamps at Fresno markets.
