Jim Christian is returning to Ohio.

Christian has decided to leave the men’s basketball post at Texas Christian University to take the vacant position at Ohio University. He has been hired to replace John Groce, who took over the Illinois men’s basketball job.

“It was clear cut, if there is any way I could take over a situation like this, it was ideal for me,” Christian said Tuesday at a news conference.

Christian previously served as the Kent State head coach, before spending the past four seasons at TCU. Christian is returning to the Mid-American Conference.

He was 56-73 at TCU, including an 18-44 mark. He has an overall record of 193-132.

At Kent State, his team won at least 20 games in six straight years.
