Julius James, a defender for the Columbus Crew, has been hospitalized.
He was sent to a hospital with a collapsed lung. There is no time table for his return.
He has not appeared in any games for the Crew this season. But played in 31 games for the team last season.
“Julius has successfully undergone a corrective procedure,” Crew President and General Manager Mark McCullers said in a statement, “to treat a spontaneous pneumothorax (collapsed lung) that was diagnosed on Thursday.
“He remains hospitalized and his condition will be monitored closely in the coming days, but he is resting comfortably and his prognosis for a full recovery is excellent, which is our primary concern.”
