Latrell Scott has been hired by James Madison.

Scott will be the tight ends coach for the Dukes. He takes over for J.C. Price, who left James Madison to become the defensive line coach at Marshall.

Scott was 6-5 in his lone season at Richmond in 2010. He resigned prior to the 2011 opener after an arrest on drunk driving.

“When I look to fill a position on our staff, I always want to fill it with the best available coach and I believe we have done that with Latrell,” Matthews said. “He has a proven ability to coach and recruit and comes highly recommended by everyone and every place he has been. He has made some mistakes and has taken responsibility for them. He is an excellent teacher and recruiter and we are extremely happy to have him in the JMU Nation.”

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to join Coach Matthews’ staff,” Scott said. “The one thought I have is to be the best coach and recruiter I can be and to be a good example for the members of the present JMU team. I am excited to get on the field and coaching again.”
