Bobby Petrino, the Arkansas head football coach, who is currently on administrative leave, did not want a passer-by to call 911.
These are the latest developments in the Petrino case. Larry Hendren, the passer-by, said he came upon the accident scene just after Petrino and Jessica Dorrell were coming out of the ditch.
“The rider and the passenger of the motorcycle declined us to call 911,” Hendren told a dispatcher. “They got into a vehicle and headed toward the hospital.”
After Hendren called 911, Petrino left with another passer-by to a Fayetteville intersection. Dorrell went with Petrino to that intersection, where she was dropped off to her own car.
At the intersection, Petrino met with Captain Lance King, who also does security for the Razorbacks football team during the season. King took Petrino to a local hospital, where he was later treated for broken ribs and a cracked neck vertebra.
“While the inquiries have no direct correlation to the investigation of the motor vehicle crash, the questions are legitimate and worthy of answers,” state police spokesman Bill Sadler said. King has been asked to detail “his involvement with Coach Petrino and other individuals who’ve been identified within the crash investigation.”
He guided the Razorbacks to an 11-2 record during the 2011 season. He is presently 34-17 at the school.
Prior to coming to Arkansas in 2009, he spent four seasons as the Louisville Cardinals head coach and most of the 2007 season as the Atlanta Falcons head coach. He left the Falcons in December 2007 to take the Razorbacks job.
