Anthony Gonzalez is happy to be on the other side of the Indianapolis Colts-New England Patriots rivarly.

Gonzalez signed with the Patriots as a free agent after five seasons with the Colts. He didn’t want to go away from the winning formula that he was used to with the Colts.

He signed a one-year deal with the Pats, worth $716,000. His deal also includes a $15,000 offseason workout bonus.

He has only played in 10 games since the 2008 season due to injuries.

“Why the Patriots? The success part, for sure. That speaks for itself,” said Gonzalez. “Just being in the NFL and being on the other side of that rivalry for a while, there’s not a hatred or anything. It’s more of a respect. As you learn more about the teams you’re playing, especially this one, you kind of get an appreciation for how they do things. Just the way it’s run and that sort of thing. To me, it’s the perfect fit in a lot of ways.”
