Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant’s mother has decided not to press charges against her son. Last week, Bryant was arrested on a Class-A family violence charge.

Two days prior, Angela Bryant was allegedly assaulted by her son during an argument at her house. Reports said that Bryant grabbed his mother by her shirt, which tore her shirt and her bra.

“I can’t keep letting him do this,” Angela Bryant said on the 911 call. “I can’t keep letting him do me like this. I’m tired. I’m going to put an end to it today.”

While Bryant might get off from being prosecuted, he could still be punished by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. He could be punished through the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

At this time, the prosecutors will not pursue charges. However, that could change at a later date. At this time, we do not know if charges will be filed at a later date.

If they are filed once again, Bryant could face at least one year in jail. He could also face a $4,000 fine, according to Texas state law.

“It is not enough simply to avoid being found guilty of a crime. Instead, as an employee of the NFL or a member club, you are held to a higher standard and expected to conduct yourself in a way that is responsible, promotes the values upon which the League is based, and is lawful,” the NFL’s personal conduct policy states. “Persons who fail to live up to this standard of conduct are guilty of conduct detrimental and subject to discipline, even where the conduct itself does not result in the conviction of a crime.”

No punishment has been announced yet. Bryant is coming off of a season where he appeared in 15 games. He made 13 starts.
