The New Orleans Saints won their preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals, 17-10, in the Hall of Fame game. But that’s not the only big news the Saints received after the game.

Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma has been trying to get his season-long suspension reduced.

Now, it appears he could be eligible to return after an 8-week suspension. According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, there is no agreement and talks are currently ongoing.

Vilma received a season-long suspension in May after being found to participate in their bounty scandal that cost Sean Payton his job for a year. If he drops his civil lawsuit against commissioner Roger Goodell, the NFL would be willing to work with Vilma.

Vilma has not appealed the penalty. However, the three other players that were also suspended did appeal their suspensions. Those three are expected to get their suspensions reduced, as well.

He has not accepted the NFL’s agreement, so time will tell what will happen.
