76ers greatly improved their center position with the trade for Bynum

Andrew Bynum is already better than the Philadelphia 76ers centers from last season.

Bynum is expected to be playing for the 76ers next season once the NBA league offices approval the blockbuster Dwight Howard deal. Last season, he had more points, rebounds, and blocks than the other 76ers big men combined.

Byum’s stats were compared to those of Spencer Hawes, Kwame Brown, and Lavoy Allen, and Brown signed as a free agent with the Sixers in July. However, he had the fewest points per post-up play in the NBA last season when he was doubled-teamed among 31 players.

He will be called upon to post up more often in Doug Collins’ system. Bynum is expected to called on more, as the offense is going to be runned through him.

He had 18.7 points, and 11.8 rebounds per game, which were career-high in both categories. He averaged 35.2 minutes and played in all 60 games last season.

In the post season, he averaged 16.7 points and 11.1 rebounds and 3.1 blocks in 12 games.

Last season, Hawes averaged 9.6 points and 7.3 rebounds. Allen had 4.1 points and 4.2 rebounds.

Brown, who was with the Golden State Warriors and Milwaukee Bucks, only played in 9 games. He averaged 6.3 points, and 6.3 rebounds in those 9 games.
